Choose this option if you don’t need an encrypted or case-sensitive. Mac OS Extended (Journaled): Uses the Mac format (Journaled HFS Plus) to protect the integrity of the hierarchical file system. To get around that problem, hold down the Command + R keys when you turn on your Mac and let go when the logo appears. Choose one of the following Mac OS Extended file system formats for compatibility with Mac computers using macOS 10.12 or earlier. If you want to format your Mac's system drive, you can't do that when the Mac is running normally because the drive is in use by the operating system. Type In the Terminal window, type diskutil list.
